What is Tresiba?
Tresiba is a long-acting insulin that’s injected once daily and helps to regulate blood sugar levels in adults and children with Diabetes (age 1 and older). Tresiba’s active ingredient is insulin degludec, and it’s available in two concentrations: 100U/mL and 200 U/mL. The Tresiba FlexTouch pen is the only injectable pen for long-lasting insulin that can deliver up to 160 units in one injection.
How long does Tresiba take to begin working?
Tresiba starts to work about an hour after being injected.
How long does Tresiba last in the body?
Tresiba works evenly in the body for 24 hours but can last as long as 42 hours.
Can Tresiba be used in an insulin pump?
No. Tresiba is for subcutaneous use only and should never be used in an infusion pump.
Is Tresiba safe to use during pregnancy?
Risk cannot be ruled out when Tresiba is used during pregnancy. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant or are breastfeeding while on Tresiba. There may be safer insulin options.
What should I do if I miss a dose of Tresiba?
If you miss a dose of Tresiba, take it as soon as you realize it, always ensuring that there are at least 8 hours between doses. Always consult your doctor or healthcare provider with any questions or concerns, especially if a dose has been missed for a child.
